Prescription policy

Controlled substances
Controlled medicines are regulated under the Narcotics Act (BtMG) and overseen by the BfArM. Opioids, stimulants and benzodiazepines require a prescription. Adult cannabis possession within limits became legal domestically in 2024, but cross-border import is not allowed.
